Microsofts hat heute um 21 Uhr die Customer Preview des neuen Microsoft Office 2013 vorgestellt und bietet sie ab sofort zum Download an. Dass Microsoft sowohl Skype als auch SkyDrive in die Suite integriert hat, ist ein Ausdruck sowohl der Cloud-Basis als auch der erweiterten sozialen Interaktionsmöglichkeiten. So genügt es beispielsweise sich im Live/Microsoft Account einzuloggen, um über jede unterstütze Plattform – selbstverständlich inklusive Windows Phone – Dokumente abspeichern sowie auf diese zugreifen zu können.
Neben zahlreicher Optimierungen hat Office 2013 eine neue Oberfläche – ganz im Sinne der Metro-Designsprache – erhalten, welche dem Nutzer aufgrund ihrer graden Linien und der damit einhergehenden Simplizität ein eindrucksvolles Erlebnis verspricht. Die Installation von Office 2013 geht überraschend schnell von der Hand, obwohl folgende Produkte enthalten sind:

The next release features an intuitive design that works beautifully with touch, stylus, mouse or keyboard across new Windows devices, including tablets. The new Office is social and unlocks modern scenarios in reading, note-taking, meetings and communications and will be delivered to subscribers through a cloud service that is always up to date.
“We are taking bold steps at Microsoft,” Ballmer said at the press conference in San Francisco. “The new, modern Office will deliver unparalleled productivity and flexibility for both consumers and business customers. It is a cloud service and will fully light-up when paired with Windows 8.”
